J + J Inglewood wedding

J + J Inglewood wedding

K, so let’s just start with the fact that this incredible wedding had a drum circle. The rhythmic beating of the drums by almost everyone in attendance was unreal. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. Then lets zero in on the cuteness overload that is J + J. Ohmyword, these two. They wanted a no fuss type day surrounded by their friends and family, and that just makes my entire soul happy. I want to capture authenticity, realness and these two, and their smiling and loving guests were exactly that.

R+S a calgary proposal!

R+S a calgary proposal!

I always get really excited when I get a proposal request. It’s probably the ultimate adrenaline rush for a scaredy cat like me. I won’t sky dive or bungee jump, but I will hide in a bush or behind a wall with my heart thumping out of my chest, aiming for the perfect images of a once in a lifetime moment. There are no do-overs, and the rush is intense! R contacted me and detailed a very elaborate plan for his girlfriend. She owns an AirB&B management company and he booked an appointment with her under a different name, under the guise of having her check out the property for potential management. It was a fantastic idea and when I arrived, the care and thought he had put into the room took my breath away. I loved how nervous he was… I don’t think I’ve experienced what someone goes through when asking the person they love to marry them. It was exhilarating! My glasses kept fogging from my own stress and from the emotion that filled the room when she entered. He just knows her. God, he KNOWS her. It was perfect and they laughed and they hugged and it was beautiful. Of course she said yes. And of course, she had to make sense of what was actually happening, considering she thought she was meeting a potential client. He thought of everything, and I could not resist getting some lysol wipes in the picture as this is love in the time of Covid.

A+D country elopement

A+D country elopement

Her vintage dress and his cowboy hat and a tiny wood framed church near Sundre made this wedding absolute perfection. The simplicity and intimacy of an elopement, simply two people who love each other, really gets to my heart. Creatively, it’s incredibly exciting too. Their vows consisted of painting a circle together, each painting half of it. She is an artist and couldn’t help touching up his half. I feel like that might be the mark of a good match, you have to know your strengths right? And seriously the giggles and shyness, and joy between them made my heart sing. I love how they braved the cold, I love how they laughed together and I felt safety when they hugged each other. It truly was a brilliant day and I cannot wait to be out there again!

Cornerstone Theatre Wedding, Canmore

Cornerstone Theatre Wedding, Canmore

It was such a delight to work with Amanda and Duncan for their Cornerstone Theatre wedding in Canmore, once again. This time though, their new private ceremony site was ready and it is just so special. The views and the landscape made for such a gorgeous ceremony. Amanda and Duncan are one of those easy going couples that you instantly love to be around the second you meet them. Amanda’s enthusiasm for pretty much everything (even a Pug that she doesn’t own…yet) put a smile on my face the whole day. And the way Duncan looks at her, and her at him, it was just completely effortless. Their dance floor was packed and I have to say, shooting inside the Cornerstone Theatre is my FAVOURITE. Because of the already rustic and cozy interior, there doesn’t need to be a lot of decorations and the way my off camera strobes bounce the light is just so cool! Haha, the nerdy side is coming out! If you’re looking for a stunning ceremony location and a fabulous reception space, then this is a very good choice.

Jill & Troy | Vermillion Lakes Banff Elopement

Jill & Troy | Vermillion Lakes Banff Elopement

When asked where the best place for an elopement near Banff is, Vermillion Lakes comes to mind immediately. Mountains, a lake, a dock over water. It’s everything you could want in one gorgeous and decently private location away from the masses of tourists. I love working in Banff, Canmore and area, it’s such a spectacular settingĀ  no matter the season… even in the smokey days of August! I met Jill and Troy for a first glance at the Banff Springs hotel and from there we set off for Vermillion Lakes for a beautifully intimate and gorgeous elopement. I worked from afar so it really was as though they were by themselves. Jill wanted dramatic creatives so we hit up the staircase and Lake Minnewanka as well as Surprise Corner for views of the Banff Springs Hotel. It was a fantastic day, and it was almost painful for me to have to stop shooting! I could have spent the entire day with them. I love my job!!!
