ModernPhotography specializes in Canmore Weddings. With over 10 years of experience, Sarah has been a photographer at almost every wedding spot in the Canmore area.
My love affair with Canmore started many years ago and often revolved around visiting my friends’ condos and home out there. It became a place of such happiness for me, somewhere that even the drive promoted relaxation. I still get excited when I crest the final hill and am greeted by the glorious valley and panoramic mountain views. My husband is from Scotland and so the mountains were definitely something new and unusual and he also developed the same sentiments. In fact, everyone we host from his family is enamored with those rocky mountains and most prefer Canmore. I’m not exactly sure what it is about that little town, but I never tire of it, especially as a wedding photographer. I am always on the look out for new venues and new locations and am never disappointed. Even old favourites like Quarry Lake, the Canmore Rail Bridge and the old Mining site present new opportunities each and every time I shoot there. Each season, each wedding, just brings so much inspiration. I am sure I have not photographed all of what Canmore has to offer, but I have experienced Silvertip, Stewart Creek, the Nordic Centre, Grande Rockies Resort and Murrietas and each has their own benefits and charm.
Silvertip Resort is a top choice for larger weddings. Its rustic space is still cozy and intimate and the food is among the best in the Bow Valley; I would love to get their dinner roll recipe! The ceremony space offers the perfect views of the rockies and I really like how the Pavilion Room opens up onto the deck with the fire pits and views of the golf course.
Stewart Creek is a great venue for couples who are planning an indoor wedding, or at least want an amazing indoor back up space. The glass windows are floor to ceiling and it feels like you’re in a treehouse. Indeed, we’ve had many animal sightings, I guess they like to be invited as well.
I finally got to shoot at the Nordic Centre and it was really impressive. The outdoor ceremony spaces in Canmore are incredible and the deck off the reception area has the best views a Canmore photographer could ask for.
Murrietas in Canmore is pretty close to my heart because they do weddings in the style that I adore. Any wedding photographer in Canmore would be blessed to do another wedding at Murrietas. Their specialty is a more mingling/cocktail/food station type event and every wedding I have done up there, the guests have an absolute ball. I can tell that everyone loves it and just genuinely love the vibe. And of course, the food is amazing. Can we talk about your Murrieta’s wedding please!
Grand Rockies Resort offers a unique environment in which guests do not have to travel after the reception, they can just ahem, stumble upstairs and go to sleep. I think any wedding that cuts down on traffic, commuting and puts an emphasis on being together all in one place is such a good thing.
All in all, I LOVE Canmore. I would love to meet you, hear your story, and be your Canmore wedding photographer!
