I’m back on the Sunshine Coast and I have fallen in love with it. My brother was married down the road at Painted Boat Resort just last weekend! Erin and Ryan came to find Rockwater Resort after considering Secret Cove in Hawaii, but thenĀ  deciding they needed to be closer to home. In a google search, Erin’s mom happened upon Secret Cove on the sunshine coast, and Rockwater Resort and really, the beauty and surroundings sealed the deal. I have known Erin for a really long time, we were photography classmates at the Alberta College of Art and Design. My first memory of her is being in class and she turned around to discuss a letter I had written to the administration about an unapproved program change (from film to digital- gasp! we were right in the middle of the switch back in the old days of 2004). From that moment on, we became great friends and colleagues. In fact, we work so well together, it’s uncanny. Each of us has no issues with taking the lead or the assistant position, we effortlessly flow between the roles of each job. It was extremely flattering that I was one of the first decisions she made in terms of her wedding vendors. I am so honored to have been there not only as their photographer, but as a friend. Their ceremony was a difficult one to get through, I can’t shoot through misty eyes! They used a beautiful quaker tradition in their ceremony where their family and friends were allowed to speak candidly about love and give their best wishes. It was thrilling to shoot on the coast and certainly a wedding I won’t be forgetting any time soon! Erin’s dress was painstakingly crafted from gorgeous silk and vintage napkins by Calgary designer Irene Rasetti. Their rings were handmade by designer Kari Woo www.kariwoo.com/

Enjoy!
