Jana & Kevin -Engaged! {Calgary engagement + wedding photographer}

Jana & Kevin -Engaged! {Calgary engagement + wedding photographer}

Jana and Kevin are getting married in Mexico in the winter and sought me out for their engagement session after Kevin proposed to Jana over sushi. Apparently Jana drowned her ring, unknowingly, with the sauce as it was hidden under the radish garnish. I have to say hearing the different engagement tales is one of my favourite things. Everyone has a story and they all usually have a common thread of the girl putting a kink in the plans someway somehow. Kevin had set up the proposal at their favourite sushi place, speaking to the staff and the chefs only to have Jana decide she wasn’t really into sushi that night. Kevin persisted and she conceded that sushi was ok, but it had to be the Chinook location so she could go shopping afterwards. Kevin made a desperate phone call and managed to pull it off and of course, Jana answered with a resounding YES! They are such a sweet couple and it was a breeze photographing such a genuine relationship. Enjoy!

Kerri & Karl -Married! {Calgary wedding + elopement photographer}

I met Kerri almost 5 years ago at a wedding I was shooting in the mountains. Kerri was the hairstylist. I love meeting other vendors, but normally there just isn’t much time to chat, this wedding was no different in terms of chatting time, but there was something that clicked between Kerri and I that had us planning a coffee date for the following week. Turns out, Kerri is a good friend of an acquaintance and we are interconnected with lots of mutual friends. So began an extremely mutually beneficial business relationship and friendship- we both are huge advocates for trading services and because of Kerri’s encouragement I have traded for things like my cut/colours, dog grooming, acupuncture, cleanses, professional cakes, personal training and the list goes on. It’s pretty awesome. Kerri has been a mainstay in my life for the last 5 years and I have always looked forward to our chats and so when Karl came on to the picture (again, for the very first time) I was absolutely thrilled. Kerri and Karl were inseparable at a young age, but circumstances as they were would see them part ways for years. However, life has a strange way of working itself out, and Kerri found herself at a wedding that Karl also happened to be attending. Some might call it fate, destiny, luck. I love stories like this, friends consider me a hopeless romantic and a believer in love and I have to say, it’s just who I am. Kerri and Karl are meant to be and just to solidify the bond, they partnered for life in addition to growing their beautiful family. I loved working with Kerri on their elopement, what a different experience! Kerri pretty much left the location and the time of the ceremony up to me! I immediately thought of the docks at the fish hatchery and Kerri knew Karl would love that. It was a beautiful moment shared between two people and I am so honored to have been a part of it. Enjoy!

Amie & Brandon -Married! {Calgary wedding photographer + Lougheed House}

Amie & Brandon -Married! {Calgary wedding photographer + Lougheed House}

I just adore Amie and Brandon. I met them back in Las Vegas when I photographed Lindsey and Dave’s wedding. Brandon is definitely the class clown type and made sure to keep everyone laughing throughout the entire creatives session. Their proposal was one of the coolest I’ve heard so far- Brandon proposed with a fishing lure box that is actually called ‘the wedding ring’, but instead of a grimy old lure, inside was a shiny rock of a ring! June is usually such a rainy month so we were almost expecting rain, embracing it even, with the boots and umbrella combo. Luckily for us, we didn’t get rain, but we did get very dramatic clouds. LOVE! Their ceremony was held at the Lougheed House, which is such a beautiful venue both inside and out. I have to say I was excited it was a bit rainy/windy for the ceremony to be held outside, as the inside is just stunning. I loved spending time with the entire bridal party, I’ve honestly never heard so many random and crazy sentences come out of so many people in my life! I really didn’t mind though as it provided the perfect smile for some perfect pictures. Enjoy!

Amber & Jason -Married! {Canmore Wedding photographer}

I really love the mountains and I feel really lucky to have them so close. This summer has been the season of non-Calgary weddings for me. From international destinations like Scotland and Vermont to BC and back near home to Cochrane and Canmore and Banff, I’ve got a summer of traveling! It’s been a really engaging experience with all these locations, some familiar and some not and so far I’ve had an absolute blast! I was introduced to Amber and Jason through a friend of mine and I was happy to find out I would get to shoot at Silvertip Golf Resort in Canmore once again. It’s been a couple years and I’ve been dying to capture that beauty again, especially loving the outdoor gazebo area for the ceremony. I was delighted to see that Patricia Compton www.imarry.ca was conducting the ceremony  as she’s definitely one of my most favourite commissioners! It was a beautiful day full of white puffy clouds and a little bit of sunshine to keep things bright. Amber was stunning and Jason had almost certainly practised his ‘smize’ ha! It’s days like this day that I am thankful for the opportunity to capture one of the most important days in my clients’ lives. Enjoying the view, loving my life, excited for more.
