Oh I have been enjoying my elopements and small weddings this spring! It’s such a fun opportunity to be part of a wedding day, shoot some spectacular pictures and then also have a good portion of the day with my family. In fact, I think Cathy and Dave’s day fit perfectly with my son’s nap. I think everyone will agree with me when I say that this early spring is just so surprising, though a wonderful surprise. In no way did I ever think that I would be photographing an April wedding with leaves on the trees, let alone a day that was over 20C. Bow Valley Ranche is a stunning location down in Fish Creek, somewhere that I grew up walking my dog beside and wondering if I would get married there. It’s a very special and intimate setting and the bridal suite upstairs is a photographer paradise. What made this day so unique was having Cathy’s granddaughter as a flower girl. She was the perfect age, full of smiles and happiness and thrilled to be wearing a princess dress. I loved seeing the emotion of the day fill Dave’s eyes as he watched Cathy walk down the aisle. That, to me, is just quintessentially, exactly why I do what I do. That love, it’s addictive I tell you. It was a day filled with friendship and family and it just doesn’t get better than that.
