It seems that, every five years or so, my husband and I are lucky enough to find ourselves back on the east coast of the United States where we met (while working together at a summer camp.) And so, when Bridget contacted me asking whether I would consider the trip again for her wedding to Matt, well, there is NEVER hesitation. The answer is always yes. Not only is it one of my favourite parts of the world, but getting to photograph a wedding there, especially one in a historic estate like Willowdale, is just a dream come true. We toured around prior to the wedding, hitting up our favourite spots in Maine and the New England area, but certainly hanging around Salem and walking onto Willowdale Estate remains a huge highlight. The estate specializes in events and thus, is a seamless production from start to finish. It was extremely impressive and I could tell how the well-trained staff there really sets a couples’ minds at ease. The rain held off for us as long as we needed it to which is a win in my books. I especially loved the hand-crafted altar filled with meaningful trinkets and objects and the ceremony itself was so heartfelt and touching, and it ended perfectly with a sip of whiskey (at least in my husband’s opinion.) The nigh ended with one of the most upbeat and boisterous dance parties I’ve witnessed and it was hard to tear myself away to leave. It was a truly spectacular day, I hope you enjoy the little sneak peek into this Willowdale dream wedding.
