Love is a choice. This little sentence was part of the most wonderful mass I have ever been witness to. It’s actually stuck with me for the past few weeks and is something I will often sit and think about. These four words match Laura and Todd to a tee. Love wasn’t just something that happened to them, indeed they were choosing each other. And like the priest said, you must continue to choose love and I have no doubt that they will. I am not a subscriber to any particular religion, but I have to give a big compliment to St Albert the Great in Mckenzie Towne for a ceremony that was relevant, moving and meaningful. It was a beautiful start to the day that is for certain. One of my favourite parts was that I got to organize a ‘leaving’ picture in front of the church. Not every church or timeline is conducive to such an event so I was thrilled when Laura and Todd were up for it. Right before Laura and Todd came out, Laura and Todd’s Dads gave each other a hug and a handshake, basically congratulating each other on a job well done raising two outstanding people- at least that was what I thought anyhow 🙂 It was a moment that represents why I do this. It’s the families and the love and the connections and the friendships that are so energizing, keeping me smiling and keeping me steadfast in the knowledge that this is what I am meant to be doing. The reception was held at the stunning Blue Devil Golf Course in south Calgary and it didn’t disappoint in views or presentation. The group was led in by a bagpiper and there was a rather strange scotch tasting. I’m actually still needing clarification on that Todd…. I’m going to end this with a quote spoken by Laura to Todd as I don’t think I can write anything more perfectly.
“I didn’t fall in love with you. I walked into love with you, with my eyes wide open, choosing to take every step along the way. I do believe in fate and destiny, but I also believe we are only fated to do the things that we’d choose anyway. And I’d choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you” ― Kiersten White, The Chaos of Stars

Stunning.
