I feel really lucky to be part of such amazing milestones in my couples’ lives. To be able to document and capture forever these moments means a lot to me. Indeed, I was lucky to meet Sonja and Allen early on in their journey and helped them announce the wonderful news to their family and friends. I was thrilled to hear back that they loved the photos so much they wanted me back to shoot Sonja’s maternity. I was speaking on the phone to a friend when Sonja and Allen arrived and remarked at how stunning Sonja looked in her jeweltone dress and gorgeous accessories- most of which that beautiful bump. And of course, Alan looked great too 🙂 It was a perfect evening, the kind that I lose myself in and forget the time and just go by the setting sun. I love these nights. I can’t wait for more.

I really love seeing a family grow and this sweet family is no exception. I try and make my sessions with kids as active as possible, lots of movement, running, spinning and I also make sure I get what I need in the first 20-30 min and then everything else is just a bonus. We had a great time at Griffith Woods in SW Calgary, it is SO nice to be out shooting in this glorious weather!

Just in time for Mother’s Day, I wanted to share this sweet little family’s session. It’s always a goofy time with kids under 3, but these two wee ones had all of us on our toes. I was definitely sweating after this one!I love that the high energy of the session came through in this first picture. Seriously, I want to go jump on my bed right now.

One of the greatest parts about being a wedding photographer is meeting so many awesome people, sharing one of the most important days of their lives and then watching their relationship grow to include more awesome (little) people. Now that I have my own little guy, I’m not shooting newborns (I have some amazing referrals though!) but I am still photographing maternity and families with babes over 6 months. I captured Jackie and Brian’s {surprise} wedding last year (and yes it was amazing and I loved every second) and was so thrilled when Jackie booked me to document her beautiful belly. She looks incredible! And Brian’s not so bad himself. He is awesome because we (Jackie and I) keep subjecting him to subzero temperatures for the photo sessions (their wedding was in November and it was COLD) and he still keeps a smile on his face and some sarcasm in the air. I love these two and I am so excited to see their family grow!

My oh my, where is time going? School’s out for the summer (cue the song being stuck in my head and maybe yours!) and I suddenly have a little more time to do some more blogging! I am looking forward to the break from teaching (as an artist in residence teaching photography to K-6) but definitely looking forward to next year and all that it brings with it, new challenges included- one being introducing photography to vision impaired and blind children. Amazing! Can’t wait to work with the teachers on that program! Children are indeed a huge source of inspiration in my life and they are constantly blowing me away with their unbridled creativity and depth. I feel really lucky to not only make photography my living, but also share my joy of teaching with others. Today’s post is of a couple cuties who are definitely keeping me smiling. Enjoy!
