Jana and Kevin are getting married in Mexico in the winter and sought me out for their engagement session after Kevin proposed to Jana over sushi. Apparently Jana drowned her ring, unknowingly, with the sauce as it was hidden under the radish garnish. I have to say hearing the different engagement tales is one of my favourite things. Everyone has a story and they all usually have a common thread of the girl putting a kink in the plans someway somehow. Kevin had set up the proposal at their favourite sushi place, speaking to the staff and the chefs only to have Jana decide she wasn’t really into sushi that night. Kevin persisted and she conceded that sushi was ok, but it had to be the Chinook location so she could go shopping afterwards. Kevin made a desperate phone call and managed to pull it off and of course, Jana answered with a resounding YES! They are such a sweet couple and it was a breeze photographing such a genuine relationship. Enjoy!

I met Kerri almost 5 years ago at a wedding I was shooting in the mountains. Kerri was the hairstylist. I love meeting other vendors, but normally there just isn’t much time to chat, this wedding was no different in terms of chatting time, but there was something that clicked between Kerri and I that had us planning a coffee date for the following week. Turns out, Kerri is a good friend of an acquaintance and we are interconnected with lots of mutual friends. So began an extremely mutually beneficial business relationship and friendship- we both are huge advocates for trading services and because of Kerri’s encouragement I have traded for things like my cut/colours, dog grooming, acupuncture, cleanses, professional cakes, personal training and the list goes on. It’s pretty awesome. Kerri has been a mainstay in my life for the last 5 years and I have always looked forward to our chats and so when Karl came on to the picture (again, for the very first time) I was absolutely thrilled. Kerri and Karl were inseparable at a young age, but circumstances as they were would see them part ways for years. However, life has a strange way of working itself out, and Kerri found herself at a wedding that Karl also happened to be attending. Some might call it fate, destiny, luck. I love stories like this, friends consider me a hopeless romantic and a believer in love and I have to say, it’s just who I am. Kerri and Karl are meant to be and just to solidify the bond, they partnered for life in addition to growing their beautiful family. I loved working with Kerri on their elopement, what a different experience! Kerri pretty much left the location and the time of the ceremony up to me! I immediately thought of the docks at the fish hatchery and Kerri knew Karl would love that. It was a beautiful moment shared between two people and I am so honored to have been a part of it. Enjoy!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Hello Summer! Not only am I just a little crazy with weddings but family sessions are also squeezing into my weeks. I find when I am super busy I become this fantastic well-oiled machine able to conquer anything and it feels great. I definitely thrive with pressure and I’m guessing that’s a pretty darn good skill to have as a photographer 🙂 This summer has been one of the best ever (second only to last summer when I got married!) and I’ve been revelling in the experience of a TON of shooting. This week I got to work with two incredible families. We laughed a lot, the weather and light were perfect and we captured some new family memories together. I have a task for you. Right this second, locate your last family photo. Find it?  Do you have feathered bangs? Are your children toddlers and now teenagers? Life is fleeting and memories are important. Contact me right now to book your session!
