oh Summer, I’m sorry but I have fallen for another. Indeed, I have fallen for Fall. These past two months have been extraordinary in Calgary and certainly Jennifer and Jason’s big day was no exception. Summer’s bright and intense scenery has given way to muted tones and gorgeous blue sky and I’ve said this a million times lately, but the light! The light out there is blowing me away. We all braved the brisk weather for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the golden foothills and in my opinion, it was definitely all worth it. Enjoy!

I photographed Lindsey and Dave’s engagement session last fall and it was no sooner than 15 minutes in that they were asking me how I felt about Vegas. As in, how I felt about flying to Vegas to shoot their wedding. As in…. um what??!!! I doubt that the words had barely left their mouths than I had already responded with a resounding YES. I love my job whether shooting in Calgary, the mountains, other provinces, but especially in the incredible visual spectacle that is Las Vegas. Prior to their wedding day, we met up on the strip to capture some portraits and the bright lights of the city. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Monday was a pretty great day: I got to spend it with two wonderful families. It seems as though this past weekend might have been the last of the fall colours; at least fall colours on the trees anyhow. So it was nice to be able to capture the last little bit of brilliance that mother nature is going to give us until spring. Family portraiture has come a long way since the days of ‘stiff poses/tilt your head to the left/put your hands on his shoulder’ and I have to say I love the transition. Showing families/wedding parties/couples having fun and engaging with each other is definitely one my favourite things to do. Certainly my biggest goal and focus (pun!) as a photographer is to capture my clients as they truly are. Enjoy the preview!

Not only was it a perfect day to be outside, it was a perfect day to shoot. It never seemed to get really bright today, which meant that I could shoot anywhere with amazing to-die-for light. Today is also 10.10.10 which is pretty cool. Today is also NFL Sunday, which Jeremy kindly reminded us about every five seconds 🙂 Right now his San Diego Chargers are behind the Oakland Raiders so I’m hoping for a speedy comeback. Luckily I’m very much indoctrinated into the sporting world as my husband wouldn’t let me set a wedding date without first checking that it did not interfere with the World Cup. Enjoy the preview. I’ve only know Chelsie and Jamie for a few months but already it feels as if we’ve been lifelong friends. Their story is actually almost identical to mine (Jamie is from Scotland as is my husband) and so right at the start we had common ground and from there friendship was easy since they’re both just really great people. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in Scotland this summer! It will be almost exactly one year since Niall and I were married in Scotland as well. Love these two! Enjoy the preview.
