Danielle & Devin – Engaged!

Danielle & Devin – Engaged!

I love the mountains. I know I’ve probably mentioned it a million times already but I really do love them. Even the drive is enjoyable; I seem to be able to do my best thinking on that highway. Danielle and Devin also love the mountains and so it wasn’t difficult to pick a location to shoot their engagement session. They brought along their adorable puppy Maui and together we all had an amazing evening with great light and laughter. These two are getting married next summer in BC and I cannot wait to shoot their spectacular garden wedding.

I’m engaged!

I’m engaged!

Ok, well, I’ve been engaged a while now and am getting married in Scotland in just over 2 weeks. I just thought I’d share a couple photos from a self-portrait session we did a couple weeks ago.

I was at Chapters last night with a friend and she showed me a booked entitled “The Book of Awesome” by Neil Pasricha (http://1000awesomethings.com). “Neil started his blog 1000 Awesome Things, as a small reminder — in a world of rising sea levels, global conflict, and a troubled economy — of the free, easy little joys that make life sweet”

If you haven’t heard of this book, or been to the blog, I highly recommend it. But my point for this blog entry is that I thought I’d share my own “Awesome” when it came to shooting this brand new family.

-photographing a baby after she has been fed is simply Awesome.

Lyndsay and Tim welcomed beautiful Elli into their lives in mid December and she has certainly captured their hearts and all those around her. I especially love witnessing the quiet and tender moments shared between a new family. I really appreciate the simplicity of the shoot and the day and am thrilled to be shooting Lyndsay and Tim’s big day this November! Awesome! (I really couldn’t resist…..)

As I said in my facebook status on the day of their wedding -sunshine and love makes for a great day. It was perfectly sunny for the ceremony and then just when we needed a bit of cloud cover during the creatives, we got it.  I loved every minute. In shooting weddings and people especially, I have found who I am. I love the interaction, I love making people happy and I love capturing people as they truly are. I am so lucky. Here’s a sneak peak at the day.

sara & mike – engaged!

“I made cookies!” is always something you want to hear from a professional baker, especially after a shoot in the mountains. I have to say, Sara’s cookies were some of the best I have ever had in my whole life. Sara and Mike’s relationship began slowly when they both worked at an oil camp up in Fort McMurray; in fact, their first date ended with a high five. But before long, the two became inseparable and are currently busy working on their newly bought home on their week off from camp every month. We had a great time in the mountains, black bear warning notwithstanding. We also saw a moose and a herd of Elk, and kept the laughter going with Talladega Nights and Anchorman quotes. Enjoy your sneak peek!
