Karen & Taylor – Married!

Karen & Taylor – Married!

Happy couple – check. Beautiful day – check. Breathtaking location – double check. One of my biggest goals on any particular wedding is to capture the couple as they are naturally and on the initial look through of all their photographs, it was laughter that punctuated Karen and Taylor’s wonderful day, something that seemed very fitting for them. Their entire wedding party deserves extra kudos for enduring the ‘hike’ during the creatives, in heels and in kilts, you guys kept me laughing and truly you all became my muse. And now….. the Sneak Preview!!!

Juniper Hotel patio. Very sunny, very hot, very…. April?

I honestly don’t know what was so funny, but this photo makes my heart sing.   Hello green moss, I think I’m in love.

Keep smiling.

There’s definitely something to be said for networking. I wrote an article about it last year and my conclusion was that it was one of the most essential and important aspects to a successful business. For me, it is perhaps the most important, aside from having a very supportive family and friends. I met Chas, the owner of Results Fitness in Bridgeland, only a week ago, and during a particularly sweaty session, she asked what I did for a living. One week later, I spent the afternoon with her and her wonderful trainers shooting their portraits. I cannot recommend them enough, I’m hooked! If you live in the area, you absolutely must check Results out. www.resultsfitnessinc.ca.

Laura grew up as a figure skater and mentioned that she and Tyler would like ‘skating rink’ shots. I’m not one to just be okay with any old rink, so I made sure to seek out the most scenic and beautiful one I could find.  I really don’t mind the drive out to the mountains, I find I get some of my best thinking done, and shooting in the mountains is always a treat. There really was no other choice than Lake Louise. If there’s one thing I can say about Laura and Tyler is that they have an overwhelming mutual admiration and respect for each other. They look at one another not with young love, but of love influenced and shaped, gracefully, with time. Truly, they are forever. I cannot wait for their wedding in August!

Chantal & marcus – engaged!

The biggest problem I had with this shoot and blog entry is trying to figure out which shots to put up here, since I really love them all! It was a fabulous day in Banff, and I feel as though the photo-gods really smiled on me, especially with the location of the sun. Hello shadows and backlighting. The perfect day was not to be outdone by drinks and food at the Rose&Crown. The only thing that would have made the day better is if Canada would have beat the USA that evening. I can’t wait to shoot their fast-approaching wedding in May!
