Oh how lovely a new baby is. My son is 3.5 years old now and it’s quite true that you just forget that new-ness; the little fingers, the fuzzy shoulders, that newborn cry (which to anyone else but the parents is just beautiful). Watching Chris and Shelley navigate parenthood reminded me of the times with my son. I loved how his head fit right under my chin, I loved seeing him grow and wondering who he would be, how he would be…. Every parent will (eventually) agree that the newborn stage passes so quickly and I think that’s why I love these newborn lifestyle sessions. It’s a moment in time that will never be again. He’ll never be that small, that cuddly ever again. He won’t fit on your lap, the fuzzy shoulders will be no more. And when the fog lifts and you have a 3.5 year old (whom you still adore! I promise!), these pictures will remind you just how incredible it was. Thanks for letting me into your journey and allowing me the honor of capturing such beautiful moments. Love to you both.

As my own son has gotten bigger, I have come to a new appreciation of extended family; his grandparents (on both sides), his Gogo (my aunt) and his cousins and uncles and aunts. It really does take a village, and I couldn’t be happier to have them all helping us along. It makes me so happy to photograph extended families, to see happy wonderful people coming together to document a precious moment in time. Photographs are indeed, all that remains of these fleeting moments. It is worth the effort and maybe hassle of coordinating an entire family, these pictures are a testament to that.

The joy of photographing a couple’s wedding, befriending them afterwards and watching their family grow is something that cannot be expressed in words. It is indeed something I treasure most about my work, the ability to be part of such special and intimate moments in others’ lives. So much love for this family!

Ok ok I don’t want to jump the gun. I love summer and don’t want it to end, but it’s inevitable that the leaves are going to change and that means I get inundated with requests for family photos here in Calgary. So this year, I’m booking 2 dates specifically for my amazing families. Book early to get your spot! Head over to the contact page and get in touch for more info!

Well hello winter! Thanks for the refreshing wind! It was great to be out in Cochrane again, though a touch less (ahem, a LOT less) wind would have been nicer, Mother Nature. This beautiful little family braved the weather though and I couldn’t be happier. Tamra and Trevor are exactly the type of people I love working with and the exact type of client I seem to attract. Easy going, adventurous (and brave!), light hearted, and just a carefree type love that makes my job so easy. Their wedding is going to be set at Stewart Creek in Canmore and I am really looking forward to it. Enjoy this little peek into a fun and gorgeous engagement session!
