laura & tyler – Married!

laura & tyler – Married!

This was a wedding of epic comic significance. Saskatchewan Sleuth and Laura Lightning were finally wed. The day was not without its battles, but in the end as we all know, love conquers all. Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman, amongst other notables, were in attendance. Truly, it was a remarkable day full of laughter, friends and family.

“our hero, Saskatchewan Sleuth has found himself in quite the ribbiting situation…. Will Laura Lightning leap in to save the day?” – brilliant. I know.

There was a lot of comic book influence throughout the decor and the day. Absolutely loved it!

vishu & lawrence – married!

It was an exhilarating weekend and an experience I won’t soon forget. Not many brides get to be married twice in a weekend. Besides having a blast shooting all the vibrant colour and action, I had my fill (well almost) of fantastic Indian food and got henna on my hand for the very first time. As a photographer, it was so nice to have the extended amount of time to really get to know everyone, especially since everyone was SO nice, helpful and eager to share their knowledge and traditions with me and my wonderful second shooter Blair. (whose fab blog can be accessed here – http://blairmariephotography.blogspot.com/ ) Thank you for a truly unforgettable weekend, for the dancing and laughter, and for braving the massive clouds of mosquitos.

This is just to prove how excited I was. ha!

vishu & lawrence – Married! (a quick look)

I’m currently in the midst of a fantastic three day event that is Vishu and Lawrence’s wedding. This evening, after I captured the gorgeousness of Vishu’s mehndi, I danced with her family and friends. As a result of all the excitement, I’m still awake and when I can’t sleep, I like to look at pictures. Here’s a very brief look at what happened today from the images I’ve managed to look through so far. Friday evening’s Sangeet post is to come, as is tomorrow Hindu ceremony. Can’t wait!

This photo just makes me so happy. Nothing like a good laugh. Thanks Jason 🙂

um Royalty…. yes.

Jenn & Cam – one year later

Jenn & Cam – one year later

How do you measure a year? The song from Rent kept creeping into my head as I drove out of Calgary to shoot Jenn and Cam almost one year later after their wedding. It was a wedding that I won’t soon forget, it was small and intimate in a forest and we had great weather to complement the fantastic locations for the creatives. It was also the day my (now) husband proposed. How life changes in just one year. If Jenn and Cam were to measure their year, it would be in flights, long distance phone calls, immigration red tape, and traveling to far off places. Cam works in Geneva for the UN and Jenn finds herself here, there and everywhere. Their love though surmounts the distance and what I saw on their wedding day, that light, the spark, is stronger than ever. Perhaps we’ll shoot a session every year now?! I can only hope I guess.

Ashlyn & Chris – Married!

Ashlyn & Chris – Married!

The Calgary weather is a source of disdain this spring and a hot topic of conversation. As I sat and edited these images for my blog, there was a massive electrical storm, one that made me feel glad I was inside and also not guilty that I wasn’t outside enjoying what could have been a rare beautiful summer day. Luckily for Ashlyn and Chris, Saturday June 19 was just lovely. Bright sunshine (although not my favourite, but better than a downpour) made the summer colours pop and the eyes of everyone, including the bride and groom, absolutely sparkle. So many great things happened this day; I had the pleasure of working with my second shooter Blair from Blair Marie photography, I discovered some terrific new locations which included a serendipitous find of those Ahhhhmaazzzzinnnggg concrete circles. Love it! Enjoy the show.
